8. Give an application of web which helps businesses.

Web application plays an important role in promoting the product in market. It also maintain a proper communication channel between customer and business organization.

1. How can you access the internet? Explain three methods.

To access the internet one should have modem, ISP and Browser.

Modem – Modem is a device that converts the analog signals to digital signal and digital signal to analog. It helps the computer to communicate with each other.

ISP – Internet Service Provider or ISP is a business that provides access to the Internet and internet related services.

Browsers – Browsers are special software that allows you to access and surf through different websites and webpages on the internet.

2. What are the bodies that governs the internet?

The internet functions without a central governing body as it comprises many smaller networks that are owned by different companies and organizations across the globe, namely: Internet Architecture BOARD (IAB). It is a technical body that, overseas the development of the Internet. It has two important groups under it, the IETF (Internet Engineering Task Force) and the IRTF (Internet Research Task Force). 

3. What is the role of TCP/IP in transferring data over the Internet?

It is a collection of communication protocols used to connect network devices on the internet. TCP/IP provides end to end communication and also specifies how to exchange data over the internet.

4. How is internet differ from intranet?

Internet is a network which is globally available for all users for sharing data and resources whereas intranet is a computer network for sharing data and resources within an organization usually to exclude outside access.

5. What are the uses of network?

Uses of networks are:

  • It helps you to share data and resources.
  • Network is very cost effective because it allows user to share expensive software and hardware. 
  • Provides faster and effective communication from one computer to another

6. Discuss the evolution of Internet.

The initial development of the Internet was started in 1969, by the US Department of Defense called Advance Research Projects Agency or ARPA. This agency created a reliable computer network for its military use called the ARPANET. The first packet switched network was created by the British Post office, Western Union International and the United States Tymnet in 1978. This further developed to become TCP/IP. Due to extensive public use, the U.S. Military separated a portion from ARPANET as the MILNEt in 1983. The National Science Foundation created a separate network as NSFNet. By the early 1990’s the internetworking of ARPANET, NSFNet and the smaller private networks saw the birth of the Internet. In 1991, HTML and HTTP were developed by Tim Berners-Lee at CERN. Web browsers like Netscape in 1993, made the internet popular.

1. Discuss client server technology.

A computer which provides services to the clients and controls the access to hardware, software and resources is called Server. The computer which request services like data retrieval, storage, etc. from the server is called the Client. Server computer is very powerful and can serve multiple request at a time. The server computer are always active and connected to the internet.

2. State some features of WWW.

The features of WWW are as follows:

  • The World Wide Web (WWW) provides the user with facilities to make the search for information easy and the retrieval quicker.
  • The WWW was built on the concept of Hypertext. Hypertext can link to information within the same page or to other documents.
  • WWW uses HTTP, this means each time the client requests your page and the web server responds by sending the resources.
  • The WWW helps people to communicate with each other and share information with anyone in the world.
  • The best thing about WWW is that it can run on any kind of operating system.
